Kissing Cousins on YouTube

Kissing Cousins

If you were a fan of the NBC series [Outsourced] before it was cancelled, then you may recognize the name Rebecca Hazlewood. She is an actress from England who played one of Todd's love interests on the show. In 2008, Hazlewood co-starred in a movie titled Kissing Cousins which is currently being streamed on YouTube for no charge.

The movie is about Amir, a thirty year old bachelor living in Los Angeles, who "serves" people the news about their relationships being terminated. If you like romantic comedies, there is a good chance that you will also enjoy this movie. Just click on the "Kissing Cousins" link above if you are interested in seeing it.

Beats, Rhymes, and Life... (Documentary)

The documentary titled Beats Rhymes & Life: The Travels of a Tribe Called Quest has been out on Blu-Ray and DVD since the middle of October 2011. If you are a regular subscriber to music culture magazines, or are an expert to all things that are hip-hop, then this documentary about the hip-hop group A Tribe Called Quest will come as old news to you. However, for the rest who do not follow music culture so closely, this documentary will answer lots of questions about the group that you may have wondered about, or did not know even existed. Michael Rapaport did a great job of capturing this story. I myself, found this documentary to be quite informative. It was interesting to hear a variety of people talk about the reasons why they liked A Tribe Called Quest.

In my opinion, this documentary is definitely worth watching. It is available at Redbox, Amazon, and Blockbuster.

The Smurfs and Kung-Fu Panda 2 on Blu-Ray and DVD

I had the opportunity to watch The Smurfs and Kung-Fu Panda 2 over the weekend.

Even though The Smurfs was made to appeal to a younger audience, I find that older viewers may still be somewhat captivated by the animation. This movie does a great job of mixing the animated characters with the human characters. Hank Azaria also does a fantastic job of playing Gargamel; very funny.

Kung-Fu Panda 2 was also a movie tailored towards a younger audience, but unlike The Smurfs, I found both the story and the animation to be quite captivating. The graphics are awesome -- period. The plot was also exotic, which made the movie interesting.

The Smurfs and Kung-Fu Panda 2 are both available at Redbox, Amazon, and Blockbuster.

Vampires in Vegas: Fright Night (2011) on Blu-Ray and DVD

Fright Night (2011) was released on Blu-ray and DVD on December 13. Even though, this movie is a remake of the the original Fright Night film that came out in 1985, you should not let that discourage you from seeing it. The movie was awesome! Colin Farrell did a good job of being creepy; so did Christopher Mintz-Plasse (very convincing). Anton Yelchin, who you may recognize from other movies such as Charlie Bartlett, Terminator Salvation, or The Beaver, also did a good job with his character. The plot moves along seamlessly from beginning to end as there is no mystery to who the antagonist is. The special effects and make-up are also done well. I cannot believe Dreamworks didn't release this movie closer to Halloween and try to set records at the box office.

Fright Night is available at Redbox, Blockbuster, and Amazon.

Sweet Smell, Hard Sell

I came across this story about a company who is working on an ingested perfume/fragrance. Their name is Swallowable Parfume.

I'm curious about how well this product will do. When I think about someone trying to sell me ingested perfume the only thing that comes to mind is this: Landry Bender sprays Jonah Hill in the mouth with perfume @ 0:55 (she hates him). However LOL is what comes to mind when I think about Jonah Hill. What comes to your mind?

Scene at 0:55                                      swallowableparfume.com

The Sitter will be released into U.S. theaters on Dec. 9, 2011.

Bomb-Ass Pizza: Part 2

Get your high fives ready for Danny Mc Bride because he's the man... kind of. If this was not a comedy Danny Mc Bride would be one sinister dude. In my opinion 30 Minutes or Less did not disappoint. Aside from a little raunchiness (actually, a lot of raunchiness) this movie was fun to watch. Note: Like some of the other blockbusters released this summer 30 Minutes or Less also has a prolonged ending after the credits roll. Make sure you don't miss it.

If you have seen 30 Minutes or Less, please take part in my demographic poll by tweeting your sex and age to #hi5dmcbride.

Teacher's Instinct

After watching the previews for Bad Teacher, I was determined to go see it. It turned out to be pretty entertaining. Cameron Diaz plays a manipulative school teacher with one goal... fast cash. One thing you might learn from Elizabeth Halsey (Cameron Diaz) is how important drama class is.

Practice Makes Perfect

Green Lantern is just one of the many comic book action films that will be released this summer. After having seen the movie, I can say that I somewhat expected more. As Hal Jordan (Ryan Reynolds) is given more time to hone his skills, I believe that he will make the Green Lantern more interesting to watch. If you like space, astronomy, science, and 3D, there is a good chance that you will still enjoy Green Lantern. Otherwise, you may be disappointed. Watch this film at your own risk or wait to see it on DVD.

The movie Green Lantern reminded me of The Mask; a movie that came out in 1994 starring Jim Carey and Cameron Diaz. The Mask may not be a super hero, but he is super hilarious. If you haven't seen The Mask look for it on DVD.

E.T. ain't got nothin' on me

I overheard stories in the media speculating that Super 8 was just like the movie E.T.. It's been more than a while since I have seen the movie E.T. so I can't remember if the alien in it had some sort of dangerous alien magic or not. However, one thing that I do remember is that E.T. (the alien) can fit into a basket on the handlebars of a bicycle. The alien in Super 8 is definitely not that small.

If you have already seen Super 8 and E.T. and want more alien action; Battle: Los Angeles, Skyline, and District 9 are all available now on DVD.

Sexy Mutants

X-Men: First Class has been in theaters since June 3. This movie was more provocative than I expected. When it comes to dating and X-men, the explanation of genetic mutation seems to seal the deal. If you have seen all of the other X-Men movies, it shouldn't hurt to go and see this one too.

You can't register for Karate at ITT Tech...

The Green Hornet has been out on DVD since March. If you have not seen this movie yet, it is not such a bad way to spend two hours of your time. There is not one dull moment in this movie. Every scene is either filled with action or with something rididdilyiculously funny. It was definitely fun to watch. I don't think ITT Tech offers karate classes but I do believe they offer some of that other cool stuff Kato was doing.

One throne. Two brothers. Three dimensions.

If you planned on seeing Thor in 3D this summer, you should do so soon before they begin to pull the movie out of theaters. Although the contrast seemed a little dark, the graphical content along with the story line made this movie well worth seeing. If you like comic books, fairy tales, or fantasy, there is a good chance that you will also enjoy seeing this movie. If you do decide to go see this movie be sure to sit through all of the credits, or you will miss the ending.

If you have already seen Thor, or would just like to see something else starring Natalie Portman; Black Swan, No Strings Attached, New York I Love you, and Paris I Love You are all available on DVD.
