Cat Run (2011): A Wee Bit Outrageous

The movie Cat Run was released into theaters over a year ago and is finally available on DVD. It is categorized as an action comedy and is equally as funny as it is exciting. The plot involves two normal American males that decide to start a private investigation agency in Montenegro. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, becoming a private investigator may not require much experience at all. Most of the humor in this movie seems to operate off of this concept; as these two inexperienced Americans begin to learn how dangerous detective work can actually be. With that being said, I found most of the action scenes in this movie to be somewhat realistic; and also violent enough to make you want to cringe at times. I feel like the leading characters of this movie did excellent jobs with their roles; and the music also seemed to move the story along from scene to scene rather smoothly. Aside from the fact that prostitution is illegal in Montenegro, I do not see why any young single bachelor might not enjoy watching this movie. I have posted the trailer for this movie below along with links to websites where you can get more information.

The Watch (2012)

If you haven't already noticed by some of my other posts, I am somewhat of a Jonah Hill fan. For this reason alone I decided to go see the new movie he is starring in alongside Ben Stiller and Vince Vaughn titled The Watch. I have to say that I did not find this movie to be as funny as I had hoped it would be. I feel that the movie was filmed well but the plot was subject to awkward timing. You may be able to thank Seth Rogen for this as he is credited as one of the writers of this movie. Yes, this movie is indeed a comedy, but there were certain elements in the script that I just didn't feel like laughing about. For instance, Jonah Hill plays a high school drop out who is obsessed with weapons and is easily influenced by others. To add to this, Vince Vaughn's character seems to undermine every critical situation that arises by incorporating alcohol into it. If these two elements together aren't enough to make you want to stop laughing; add in the fact that Vince Vaughn has had some experience playing extremely violent characters in some of his previous movies; premeditated murderers to be exact. Who knows what a high school dropout with access to assault weapons and a possible grudge with the police is capable of doing under the influence of a character like Vince Vaughn's? With this running through my mind, I just kept wondering about how his character was going to react with and influence the other characters throughout the film; and if there were going to be any unexpected plot twists. There was also some sexual humor that just made me think twice about laughing and added to the awkward timing of the plot.

All in all, I must say that the actors seemed to show that they were capable of taking this movie into a totally different direction, which I find to be rather interesting. It also may be a good reason to rent The Watch when it comes out on DVD. However, with all of the other alien movies that have already been released this summer, I wouldn't advise you to rush into theaters to see this movie anytime soon. As for the actors of this film, I am definitely interested to see what type of roles they will playing in future projects.

Stax: An American Love Story

How do you stack your Lay's? Since my recent discovery of the "All-American Cheeseburger" flavor of Stax by Frito Lay, I have been stacking mine like Jalapeno Burgers. It's simple, you just simulate a single or double burger by doing the following:

Single Stack = (1) Jalapeno flavored crisp in between (2) All-American Cheeseburger flavored crisps

Double Stack = (2) Jalapeno flavored crisps in between (3) All-American Cheeseburger flavored crisps

I also took some time to make an animated video of how to stack a Jalapeno Burger for yourself, and posted it [here] on my Google Plus page. I must say that I am no choreographer, but these Stax potato crisps might just leave your taste buds dancing. I hope you enjoy the video.

Prometheus: A Movie About Aliens

I finally made it out to see Prometheus this weekend and must say that I rather enjoyed it. Although I do find certain aspects about the aliens themselves to be quite repulsive, everything about this movie was still fascinating to me. If you are already familiar with Prometheus from Greek mythology then the plot of this movie may seem like old news to you; but there is still a good chance that you will enjoy the visual presentation. The filming locations and set design of this film come together to create an authentic ancient look; while at the same time, a futuristic look is achieved through the use of special effects and costumes. Overall, this movie seemed visually realistic and was fun to watch. That being said, I have posted the movie's websites [Project Prometheus.com] and [Weyland Industries.com] to let you see the type of fictional technology that was used in the film. I have also posted a trailer of the movie below to feed your curiosity... enjoy.

Rockin' Hot Summer on Basic Cable

Summer has arrived and brought along with it a line up of great shows to watch on basic cable. One thing that I especially enjoy about these shows is the music that they are produced with. Over the weekend I watched the season premiere of Suits on the USA network and now have a song by Gotye stuck in my head. The song that I am referring to is titled "Smoke and Mirrors," and with lyrics like "You're a fraud and you know it... and you're careful not to show it but sometimes you even fool yourself... every night and day you take the stage... you put on quite a show," I feel that it sets the perfect tone of mystery and suspense for the rest of the season. Much like this song, each episode of this show also tends to unfold slow and steady until the lawyers find all of the information they need to win their corporate cases. I don't know if corporate law runs this smooth in reality but it sure is interesting to watch on television.

        Gotye - Smoke and Mirrors

Now that this is finally out in the open, I would like to mention that Suits is only one of the many summer shows that is produced with mesmerizing music. If this interests you at all, you will be delighted to know that I have also posted some theme songs for other shows that will be rockin' all summer long. These shows are all available to watch on television, their network websites, and Hulu.com.

        Ima Robot - Greenback Boogie

The theme song for Suits is very appropriately titled "Greenback Boogie," as they do deal with corporate law all day. Suits airs on Thursdays at 10 pm Eastern Time on the USA Network.

        The Blue Van - Independence

The theme song for Royal Pains is titled "Independence." Again, it is an appropriate title for a show about two brothers who start their own medical business together. Royal Pains airs on Wednesdays at 9 pm Eastern Time on the USA Network.

Original Score for The Glades; Sam Cooke - Summertime

The theme song for The Glades is an original score for the show that is approximately twenty seconds long. I also included a song by Sam Cooke titled "Summertime," just because it popped up in one of the promo commercials for the show. The Glades airs on Sundays at 9 pm Eastern Time on the A&E network.

Jonah Hill is The Sitter: Can You Feel It?

Even though The Sitter was released into theaters during December of 2011, I have just recently gotten around to watching it on DVD. Despite this movie being a (Dark?) comedy, I was surprised to see the amount of sensitivity Jonah Hill used while addressing the controversial issues in this film that many modern day families may be currently dealing with. The children in this film were also adorable and the mind boggling context managed to move the plot along in a way that kept me eager to see what was going to happen next. I have to say that I enjoyed this movie and found it to be quite funny. In my opinion, Jonah Hill always makes interesting movies. If you usually enjoy films starring Jonah Hill then it is likely that this movie will not be an exception.

I posted a video below of a Slick Rick song from the soundtrack which just so happens to mention Jonah Hill's name in the hook. Although it may seem unrelated, I also posted two videos by "The Fat Boys" because for some reason they come to my mind when I hear this song. Maybe "The Fat Boys" come to my mind because they are also from New York; or maybe it is just because they are somewhat comedians when they rap. Whatever the case may be, the videos are posted for your entertainment.

Here is a picture of how fashionable the children are in this movie. One thing that I noticed while watching this movie is that Cowboy boots and leather jackets can make a pair of pajamas look official. I also realized that tutus are simply adorable.

Speaking of official, here are a pair of Nike Zoom HyperEnforcer XD's and a Tommy Hilfiger waffle lined hoodie that may give you a similar result while wearing a tie; or vice versa.

The Amazing Grilled Cheese Bacon Burger & Spidey-Kicks

Yes, this is another post about a delicious burger from Carl's Jr. but this time a superhero is involved. The Amazing Grilled Cheese Bacon Burger is another "Patty Melt" with the addition of bacon and melted Swiss and American cheeses.

I have no idea of how this gooey concoction correlates with the new Spider-Man movie but the bacon covered in all of that melted cheese and buttery sourdough was quite tasty. If you don't already know, the new Spider-Man movie is set to be released into theaters next month on July 3. I have taken the time to post the trailer below alongside some Amazing Spidey-Kicks that you can use to work off all of those amazing grilled cheese calories.

The Nike Hyperdunk 2011 Supreme (above left) does not seem to be available anywhere online in this colorway; but this particular style of the Nike Dual Fusion ST2 pictured above (right) can still be found in select sizes at Famous Footwear.com.

Totally Kick Ass Briefs: Diesel

Another Super Hero Summer has been ushered in by the much anticipated release of The Avengers earlier this month; and the releases of The Dark Knight Rises and The Amazing Spider-Man will be soon to follow. With that being said, I would like to point out that the Italian clothing line Diesel has also released a line of Super Hero Underwear.

I do not know exactly how long these briefs have been available, but I like the idea that you can never be too old to wear Super Hero Underwear. The line ranges from Kick-Ass type superheroes like "Iron Boy" to more notable superheros like Batman, Flash, and Green Lantern as well. In addition, as silly as it may sound, some of the briefs in this line have special features like "stealth armor" and "glow-in-the-dark". I have posted a link to the Diesel website if you are interested in finding out more about the Super Hero Briefs. I have also posted a link to the Fresh & Bright photo shoot on the Diesel Planet flickr page if you are interested in seeing more of the Kick-Ass models.

Battleship is About Aliens?

Battleship was released into theaters last week Friday, and even though NASA did not send me any specific signals for intelligent communication, I still decided to go see it. As you may already know, Brooklyn Decker plays one of the leading roles in the film, but the only flesh you should be expecting to see is that of an Alien. Contrary to some of her previous work, Brooklyn Decker somehow manages not to be over objectified in this movie. Instead, the film seems to focus on the man v.s. supernatural conflict and emotionally charged topics like military veterans and casualties of war. If you find any humor in the lengths to which a man will go to impress a woman, then you may find this movie to be romantic; otherwise it is mainly a science fiction movie about aliens.

Southwest Patty Melt

I don't know why I waited so long to begin with, but last week I finally decided to try the Southwest Patty Melt from Carl's Jr. This isn't the first time Carl's Jr. has offered a Jalapeno Burger on it's menu, but for some reason the Sourdough Bread makes it seem like more than just jalapenos on a burger; and it is. The Southwest Patty Melt also has pepper jack cheese, grilled onions, mayonase, and special flavored Santa Fe Sauce. I was surprised at how good it actually turned out to be; and as the video above suggests, it is definitely worth a try.

Can I Say Something? - Reebok Classics

There is a Reebok commercial on YouTube featuring Tyga and Mike Posner both explaining how much work it takes for them to make a "classic" record. It was interesting to hear their point of view on the subject but... Can I say Something?

I have owned a couple of pairs of Reebok Classics in the past; by personal choice and also by luck of the draw. If you too have owned a pair of Reebok Classics then you may be able to relate to what I am about to write. One funny thing that I have noticed about my last pair of Reebok Classics is that the leather they are made of is so soft, after about a month or so of regular use, they begin to look more like Adidas.

Have you ever had a pair of Reebok Classics begin to look like this after a while?

Tall, Blonde, and Available... in 3-D

If you have visited a Starbuck's Coffee Shop lately, you may have noticed that they now offer Blonde Coffee. They even have new "Blonde Coffee Mugs" to drink it in. The mugs sort of look like hard boiled eggs with a pinch of pepper sprinkled on; or sunny side up if that's what you prefer. In any case, I have taken a slight liking to the new mugs. You might even call it a crush. Furthermore, while admiring the new Blonde Coffee Mugs, I noticed that the design of the "City Lights" Starbuck's Card has somewhat of a three dimensional effect to it. I find that if you focus on the yellow lights on the card for a while, the rest of the design will pop out at you in layers. Well, I just thought this was too neat to go unmentioned. Before I go, I would also like to mention that you may be able to find Starbuck's "Peppermint Mocha" flavored ice cream at a grocery store near you, as it is currently available. If you are an ice cream fanatic, you might want to ASAP on that, as it is a "Limited Edition" flavor. Good Day.

Real Steel on Blu-Ray and DVD

Real Steel will be out on Blu-Ray and DVD this Tuesday, January 24. Since most of the fighting in this movie is done by robots, it seems less brutal to watch than other fighting movies; which is a good thing. I find that the life size robots used in this movie were meant to capture the imagination of viewers from all ages, which makes it fun to watch. Yes, this story does involve a typical underdog theme, but it is also about two people meeting each other for the first time. And last but not least, I must mention that Hugh Jackman does put his Hugh-ge Muscles out on display throughout the movie, and Evangeline Lily is a knockout. If these reasons alone aren't enough to spark your interests in seeing Real Steel, maybe the videos above will help to change your mind.

Real Steel will be available at Redbox, Blockbuster, and Amazon.

Wilde, Raunchy, and Romantic: The Change-Up on Blu-Ray and DVD

The Change-Up is a raunchy romantic comedy starring Jason Bateman, Olivia Wilde, and Ryan Reynolds. It has been available on Blu-Ray and DVD since early November of 2011. I am embarrassed to say that as silly and immature as this movie may seem, it still turned out to be pretty funny. Aside from the fact that Jason Bateman and Ryan Reynolds are cast as a pair of jokesters, this movie is still about a couple trying to make their relationship work. With that being said, I would like to emphasize that there is a fair amount of dirty humor tangled up with all of the romance. Thank heavens for Olivia Wilde, as she really did help to diffuse some of the raunchiness with her beauty. If you are a fan of Jason Bateman in Arrested Development or Ryan Reynolds in Van Wilder, then you may still enjoy this movie despite all of the dirty humor. Otherwise, you may just want to avoid it altogether.

If you are still interested in seeing The Change-Up after reading this review, it is available to rent at Redbox, Amazon, and Blockbuster.

Home Videos From GukaTv

I was doing a routine browse on YouTube a while back and came across this video from GukaTV. This video was too funny to be left alone, so I decided that I would share it in one of my posts. I can't tell if these clips are scripted or not, but the shock value is hilarious.

Since I don't speak Russian I'll just assume it goes something like:
Welcome back to GukaTv. First up, we have a practical joke at work that goes terribly wrong... let's have a look. Wow, that guy really does a good job when he's not sleeping, he should be getting promoted soon, yes?

Next, we have a naughty little boy who just wants some attention. Wow, his communication skills are excellent. He literally charmed the pants right off of her, yes?

(hopefully my interpretation is somewhat accurate)

Happy New Year

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! I didn't do anything special to celebrate the New Year aside from going out to dine at a buffet. I originally wanted to go out to brunch, but this particular establishment was not offering pancakes and bacon; so I decided to wait until the dinner buffet. It turned out to be delicious for the most part. Pictured above is some prime rib, pot roast, scalloped potatoes, wild rice, fried shrimp, snow crab legs, pork and veggie filled spring rolls, chocolate cake, and red velvet cake. They also had other things like stuffed shells, mashed potatoes, and fried chicken but I could not fit anymore food into my tiny little body. On the way back from dinner, I had to battle some high winds and dense fog; but I still managed to make it to my destination all in one piece. If there is one thing that I can say after all this, it is that I definitely need to work on my buffet strategy for future occasions. I am still working on my list of New Year's Resolutions, but until then... HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
