Cat Run (2011): A Wee Bit Outrageous

The movie Cat Run was released into theaters over a year ago and is finally available on DVD. It is categorized as an action comedy and is equally as funny as it is exciting. The plot involves two normal American males that decide to start a private investigation agency in Montenegro. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, becoming a private investigator may not require much experience at all. Most of the humor in this movie seems to operate off of this concept; as these two inexperienced Americans begin to learn how dangerous detective work can actually be. With that being said, I found most of the action scenes in this movie to be somewhat realistic; and also violent enough to make you want to cringe at times. I feel like the leading characters of this movie did excellent jobs with their roles; and the music also seemed to move the story along from scene to scene rather smoothly. Aside from the fact that prostitution is illegal in Montenegro, I do not see why any young single bachelor might not enjoy watching this movie. I have posted the trailer for this movie below along with links to websites where you can get more information.

The Watch (2012)

If you haven't already noticed by some of my other posts, I am somewhat of a Jonah Hill fan. For this reason alone I decided to go see the new movie he is starring in alongside Ben Stiller and Vince Vaughn titled The Watch. I have to say that I did not find this movie to be as funny as I had hoped it would be. I feel that the movie was filmed well but the plot was subject to awkward timing. You may be able to thank Seth Rogen for this as he is credited as one of the writers of this movie. Yes, this movie is indeed a comedy, but there were certain elements in the script that I just didn't feel like laughing about. For instance, Jonah Hill plays a high school drop out who is obsessed with weapons and is easily influenced by others. To add to this, Vince Vaughn's character seems to undermine every critical situation that arises by incorporating alcohol into it. If these two elements together aren't enough to make you want to stop laughing; add in the fact that Vince Vaughn has had some experience playing extremely violent characters in some of his previous movies; premeditated murderers to be exact. Who knows what a high school dropout with access to assault weapons and a possible grudge with the police is capable of doing under the influence of a character like Vince Vaughn's? With this running through my mind, I just kept wondering about how his character was going to react with and influence the other characters throughout the film; and if there were going to be any unexpected plot twists. There was also some sexual humor that just made me think twice about laughing and added to the awkward timing of the plot.

All in all, I must say that the actors seemed to show that they were capable of taking this movie into a totally different direction, which I find to be rather interesting. It also may be a good reason to rent The Watch when it comes out on DVD. However, with all of the other alien movies that have already been released this summer, I wouldn't advise you to rush into theaters to see this movie anytime soon. As for the actors of this film, I am definitely interested to see what type of roles they will playing in future projects.

Stax: An American Love Story

How do you stack your Lay's? Since my recent discovery of the "All-American Cheeseburger" flavor of Stax by Frito Lay, I have been stacking mine like Jalapeno Burgers. It's simple, you just simulate a single or double burger by doing the following:

Single Stack = (1) Jalapeno flavored crisp in between (2) All-American Cheeseburger flavored crisps

Double Stack = (2) Jalapeno flavored crisps in between (3) All-American Cheeseburger flavored crisps

I also took some time to make an animated video of how to stack a Jalapeno Burger for yourself, and posted it [here] on my Google Plus page. I must say that I am no choreographer, but these Stax potato crisps might just leave your taste buds dancing. I hope you enjoy the video.

Prometheus: A Movie About Aliens

I finally made it out to see Prometheus this weekend and must say that I rather enjoyed it. Although I do find certain aspects about the aliens themselves to be quite repulsive, everything about this movie was still fascinating to me. If you are already familiar with Prometheus from Greek mythology then the plot of this movie may seem like old news to you; but there is still a good chance that you will enjoy the visual presentation. The filming locations and set design of this film come together to create an authentic ancient look; while at the same time, a futuristic look is achieved through the use of special effects and costumes. Overall, this movie seemed visually realistic and was fun to watch. That being said, I have posted the movie's websites [Project Prometheus.com] and [Weyland Industries.com] to let you see the type of fictional technology that was used in the film. I have also posted a trailer of the movie below to feed your curiosity... enjoy.

Rockin' Hot Summer on Basic Cable

Summer has arrived and brought along with it a line up of great shows to watch on basic cable. One thing that I especially enjoy about these shows is the music that they are produced with. Over the weekend I watched the season premiere of Suits on the USA network and now have a song by Gotye stuck in my head. The song that I am referring to is titled "Smoke and Mirrors," and with lyrics like "You're a fraud and you know it... and you're careful not to show it but sometimes you even fool yourself... every night and day you take the stage... you put on quite a show," I feel that it sets the perfect tone of mystery and suspense for the rest of the season. Much like this song, each episode of this show also tends to unfold slow and steady until the lawyers find all of the information they need to win their corporate cases. I don't know if corporate law runs this smooth in reality but it sure is interesting to watch on television.

        Gotye - Smoke and Mirrors

Now that this is finally out in the open, I would like to mention that Suits is only one of the many summer shows that is produced with mesmerizing music. If this interests you at all, you will be delighted to know that I have also posted some theme songs for other shows that will be rockin' all summer long. These shows are all available to watch on television, their network websites, and Hulu.com.

        Ima Robot - Greenback Boogie

The theme song for Suits is very appropriately titled "Greenback Boogie," as they do deal with corporate law all day. Suits airs on Thursdays at 10 pm Eastern Time on the USA Network.

        The Blue Van - Independence

The theme song for Royal Pains is titled "Independence." Again, it is an appropriate title for a show about two brothers who start their own medical business together. Royal Pains airs on Wednesdays at 9 pm Eastern Time on the USA Network.

Original Score for The Glades; Sam Cooke - Summertime

The theme song for The Glades is an original score for the show that is approximately twenty seconds long. I also included a song by Sam Cooke titled "Summertime," just because it popped up in one of the promo commercials for the show. The Glades airs on Sundays at 9 pm Eastern Time on the A&E network.

Jonah Hill is The Sitter: Can You Feel It?

Even though The Sitter was released into theaters during December of 2011, I have just recently gotten around to watching it on DVD. Despite this movie being a (Dark?) comedy, I was surprised to see the amount of sensitivity Jonah Hill used while addressing the controversial issues in this film that many modern day families may be currently dealing with. The children in this film were also adorable and the mind boggling context managed to move the plot along in a way that kept me eager to see what was going to happen next. I have to say that I enjoyed this movie and found it to be quite funny. In my opinion, Jonah Hill always makes interesting movies. If you usually enjoy films starring Jonah Hill then it is likely that this movie will not be an exception.

I posted a video below of a Slick Rick song from the soundtrack which just so happens to mention Jonah Hill's name in the hook. Although it may seem unrelated, I also posted two videos by "The Fat Boys" because for some reason they come to my mind when I hear this song. Maybe "The Fat Boys" come to my mind because they are also from New York; or maybe it is just because they are somewhat comedians when they rap. Whatever the case may be, the videos are posted for your entertainment.

Here is a picture of how fashionable the children are in this movie. One thing that I noticed while watching this movie is that Cowboy boots and leather jackets can make a pair of pajamas look official. I also realized that tutus are simply adorable.

Speaking of official, here are a pair of Nike Zoom HyperEnforcer XD's and a Tommy Hilfiger waffle lined hoodie that may give you a similar result while wearing a tie; or vice versa.

The Amazing Grilled Cheese Bacon Burger & Spidey-Kicks

Yes, this is another post about a delicious burger from Carl's Jr. but this time a superhero is involved. The Amazing Grilled Cheese Bacon Burger is another "Patty Melt" with the addition of bacon and melted Swiss and American cheeses.

I have no idea of how this gooey concoction correlates with the new Spider-Man movie but the bacon covered in all of that melted cheese and buttery sourdough was quite tasty. If you don't already know, the new Spider-Man movie is set to be released into theaters next month on July 3. I have taken the time to post the trailer below alongside some Amazing Spidey-Kicks that you can use to work off all of those amazing grilled cheese calories.

The Nike Hyperdunk 2011 Supreme (above left) does not seem to be available anywhere online in this colorway; but this particular style of the Nike Dual Fusion ST2 pictured above (right) can still be found in select sizes at Famous Footwear.com.
